A pentacyclic triterpenoid that is (9β)-24-methylene-9,19-cyclolanostane which carries a hydroxy group at position 3β. It is isolated from several plant species including Euphorbia, Epidendrum, Psychotria and Sideritis.
24-Methylenecycloartan-3-ol and methyl caffeate, isolated coumarins were previously obtained from M. paniculata, show weak activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.[1]
