Desmethylxanthohumol is a chalcone-type compound isolated from hops, it is present in extracts in a concentration of about 1/5 of the xanthohumol content.; it is a phytoestrogen with hormonal activity; it is a powerful apoptosis inducing agent in lymphoid leukemic cell assays and it acts as a chemoprotective compound activating oxidation and excretion of harmful xenobiotic.[1]
Desmethylxanthohumol has oxygen radical antioxidant capacity.[2]
Desmethylxanthohumol is prenylated flavonoid from hops effectively, can inhibit proliferation of prostate cancer cells in vitro.[3]
