Chiral resolution of furofuran lignans and their derivatives from the stems of Dendrobium 'Sonia'.[Pubmed:39428185]

Chin J Nat Med. 2024 Oct;22(10):937-944.

Five new furofuran lignans and their derivatives, (-)-Glaberide I 4-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1a), (+)-Glaberide I 4-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1b), (+)-Glaberide I 7'-ethoxy-4-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2a), (-)-Glaberide I 7'-ethoxy-4-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2b), and (-)-isoeucommin A (3b), along with fifteen known analogs were isolated from the stems of Dendrobium 'Sonia'. These compounds were classified into ten pairs of enantiomers or diastereoisomers via chiral resolution, and their structures were determined based on extensive spectroscopic data. Their absolute configurations were determined by hydrolysis, comparison of experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism (ECD) data, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The isolates were evaluated for their ability to inhibit nitric oxide (NO) production in RAW264.7 cells. Among them, syringaresinol (5) exhibited prominent inhibition activity, with an IC(50) value of 28.4 +/- 3.0 mumol.L(-1), and there was a slight difference between 5a, 5b and the racemic mixture 5.

[A new lignan from rhizome of Stellera chamaejasme].[Pubmed:29751712]

Zhongguo Zhong Yao Za Zhi. 2018 Apr;43(8):1649-1653.

To investigate the chemical compounds from the rhizome of Stellera chamaejasme, nine lignans, including stellerachamin A (1), 8-hydroxypluviatolide (2), wikstromol (3), pinoresinol (4), matairesinol (5), dextrobursehernin (6), hinokinin(7), (-)-Glaberide I (8) and (-) medioresinol (9) were isolated by various chromatographic methods. Their structures were extensively determined on basis of MS and NMR spectroscopic data analysis. Among them, compound 1 was a new lignan, and compounds 2 and 7 were isolated from Thymelaeaceae for the first time.

New benzo[c]phenanthridine and benzenoid derivatives, and other constituents from Zanthoxylum ailanthoides: Effects on neutrophil pro-inflammatory responses.[Pubmed:24232457]

Int J Mol Sci. 2013 Nov 13;14(11):22395-408.

A new benzo[c]phenanthridine, oxynorchelerythrine (1), and two new benzenoid derivatives, methyl 4-(2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-3-methyl-4-oxobutoxy)benzoate (2) and (E)-methyl 4-(4-((Z)-3-methoxy-3-oxoprop-1-enyl)phenoxy)-2-methylbut-2-enoate (3), have been isolated from the twigs of Zanthoxylum ailanthoides, together with 11 known compounds (4-14). The structures of these new compounds were determined through spectroscopic and MS analyses. Among the isolated compounds, decarine (4), (-)-syringaresinol (6), (+)-episesamin (8), Glaberide I (9), (-)-dihydrocubebin (10), and xanthyletin (11) exhibited potent inhibition (IC50 values

[Lignans from Sinocalamus affinis].[Pubmed:23019880]

Zhongguo Zhong Yao Za Zhi. 2012 Jul;37(13):1968-72.

Fifteen compounds were isolated from the stem (with skin removed) of Sinocalamus affinis by a combination of various chromatographic techniques including silica gel, macroporous adsorbent resin, Sephadex LH-20, and preparative HPLC. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic data as ( + )-(1S, 2R)-1, 2-bis (4-hydroxy- 3-methoxyphenyl)-1, 3-propanediol (1), threo-guaiacylglycerol-beta-O-4'-coniferyl ether(2), erythro-guaiacylglycerol-beta-O-4'-coniferyl ether(3), ( + )-(7S, 8R, 8'R)-5'-methoxylariciresinol(4), ( + )-(7S, 8R, 8'R)-5, 5'-dimethoxylariciresinol (5), ( +/- )-Glaberide I (6), ( - )-syringaresinol (7), ( - )-medioresinol(8), ( - )-(8R, 8R')-4, 4'-dihydroxy-3, 3', 5, 5'-tetramethoxyligna-9, 9'-diol(9), ( - )-secoisolariciresinol-9, 9'-acetonide (10), and ( + )-lyoniresinol (11); a new natural product 2, 6-dimethoxypyran4-one (12), and beta-sitosterol, 4-hydroxycinnamic acid, and 2, 6-dimethoxy-p-benzoquinone. These compounds were isolated from the genus Sinocalamus for the first time, compound 10 should be an artifact.

Antimalarial compounds from Rhaphidophora decursiva.[Pubmed:11421741]

J Nat Prod. 2001 Jun;64(6):772-7.

Bioassay-directed fractionation led to the isolation of 14 compounds, six of which possess antimalarial activity, from the dried leaves and stems of Rhaphidophora decursiva. Polysyphorin (1) and rhaphidecurperoxin (6) showed strong activities against Plasmodium falciparum. Rhaphidecursinol A (2), rhaphidecursinol B (3), grandisin (4), and epigrandisin (5) were less active against the same organism. Among the isolates, rhaphidecursinol A (2) and rhaphidecursinol B (3) were determined to be new neolignans, and rhaphidecurperoxin (6) is a new benzoperoxide. Known compounds isolated include polysyphorin (1), grandisin (4), epigrandisin (5), (+)-medioresinol, (-)-pinoresinol, (-)-syringaresinol, (+)-Glaberide I, (+)-dehydrovomifoliol, (-)-liliolide, (-)-hydroxydihydrobovolide, and N-butylbenzamide, of which compound 1 appears worthy of further evaluation as an antimalarial agent. Structure elucidation and identification were accomplished by spectroscopic means including 1D and 2D NMR analyses.
