Sleep Research
Sleep is characterized by altered consciousness, it is split into two distinct stages- rapid eye movement (REM) and non-REM. The circadian clock controls the pattern of sleep and wakefulness. It is regulated by the light levels, temperature, metabolites, neurotransmitters, neuropeptides, and neurohormones, which cause a daily fluctuation in expression levels of many sleep-related genes.

Luzindole
Luzindole (N-0774) is a selective melatonin receptor antagonist. Luzindole preferentially targets MT2 (Mel1b) over MT1 (Mel1a) with Ki values of 10.2 and 158 nM for human MT2 and MT1, respectively. Luzindole suppresses experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), and exerts antidepressant-like activity.

Retinoic acid
Retinoic acid is a metabolite of vitamin A that plays important roles in cell growth, differentiation, and organogenesis. Retinoic acid is a natural agonist of RAR nuclear receptors, with IC50s of 14 nM for RARα/β/γ. Retinoic acid bind to PPARβ/δ with Kd of 17 nM.
