Schizophrenia Research
Schizophrenia is a chronic, debilitating mental disorder affecting 1-2% of the global population. Symptoms are split into two types; 'positive' symptoms, including delusions and hallucinations, and 'negative' symptoms, including anhedonia and lack of motivation. Studies suggest that genetics, early environment, neurobiology, psychological and social processes are important contributory factors; some recreational and prescription drugs appear to cause or worsen symptoms. Several neurobiological alterations in brain structure, physiology and neurochemistry have been documented, along with an ever-increasing list of susceptibility genes.

Calyculin A is a potent and cell-permeable protein phosphatase 1 (PP1) and protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) inhibitor with IC50s of 2 nM and 0.5-1 nM.
-
BCN1280
Cantharidin
Cantharidin, a natural toxin isolated from beetles in the families Meloidae and Oedemeridae, has been reported to be toxic to some pests, including the diamondback moth.
-
BCC4773
Cyclosporin A
Cyclosporin A is an immunosuppressant which binds to the cyclophilin and inhibits phosphatase activity of calcineurin with an IC50 of 5 nM. Cyclosporin A also inhibits CD11a/CD18 adhesion.
-
BCC4952
Tacrolimus (FK506)
Tacrolimus (FK506), a macrocyclic lactone, binds to FK506 binding protein (FKBP) to form a complex. Tacrolimus inhibits calcineurin phosphatase, which inhibits T-lymphocyte signal transduction and IL-2 transcription. Immunosuppressive properties.
